Environmental Compliance Specialist

As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for enforcing Council's regulatory responsibilities through investigations and enforcement activities. You will also provide education and support to the community on environmental legislation and Council policies, promoting awareness and compliance with state and local laws.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce compliance with Council's regulatory responsibilities through investigations and enforcement activities.
- Provide education and support to the community on environmental legislation and Council policies.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, community groups, businesses, and external agencies to support litter management initiatives.
- Perform on-ground tasks including waste collection and use of Council vehicles to carry out enforcement activities.
- Experience in a customer-focused approach in enforcing environmental legislation.
- Strong investigation and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to drive a vehicle and have a current driver's license.
- Experience in a local government enforcement position, including understanding of the Environment Protection Act.
- Previous experience in a similar role or industry-related field.
