Design Manager Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to lead the design delivery of Transmission or Substation assets between Delivery partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the interface between design, engineering, Client's SME's and asset management teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders across technical requirements of the project
  • Manage compliance across all aspects of the engineering process within the project
  • Monitor and track design deliverables and schedules, manage RFIs, design changes, NCRs to ensure successful project completion
  • Support construction team to resolve any engineering issues during the construction phase
  • Ensure compliance across technical design, HSE, Budget, time and quality requirements as well as manage engineering project risks, report progress and proactively resolve issues as they arise to mitigate impact
  • Accountable for leading the compilation of project specifications
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders, delivering a high level of service
Requirements:
  • High level of technical knowledge within the design and construction of transmission assets (lines or substations)
  • Significant experience successfully delivering engineering outcomes including project scope, specification development, managing design reviews, onsite inspection, and safety in design processes
  • Understanding of transmission system reliability and performance, substation and transmission system components, performance, and operation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines, which govern safety, engineering design, environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projects
  • Ability to work as part of a team in the design, construction and management of large, complex infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil/Structural Engineering or an equivalent and ideally NER, CPEng and/or RPEQ
