This is a Specialist Support Worker role in the area of Restorative Justice for Victims of Crime.
About The RoleAs a Specialist Support Worker, you will be working collaboratively with other staff and service providers to deliver trauma-informed restorative justice options to victim survivors of family violence. Your primary goal will be to provide support and advice to eligible victim survivors and others participating in victim-centred restorative justice processes.
- You will be responsible for providing trauma-informed support to victim survivors and others participating in restorative justice processes.
- You will respond to new enquiries, conduct eligibility assessments, complete client intake processes, assess participant risk, safety and well-being needs, including ongoing identification and management of family violence risk consistent with MARAM and Information Sharing responsibilities.
- You will develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and provide the necessary support for persons harmed and persons responsible to safely participate in the restorative process.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (such as psychology, social work or human services) and/or a minimum of 2 years practice in a related field (such as family violence support, men's behaviour change or similar).
- A thorough understanding of restorative justice practice, theories and processes.
- A strong understanding of issues and risks in restorative processes, including trauma-informed therapeutic approaches and reflective practice.
- Highly-developed skills and experience in identifying, assessing and managing family violence risk consistent with MARAM.
