**Commercial Dispute Resolution Specialist Role Overview**

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions in Victoria's courts and tribunals. This includes the County Court of Victoria, which has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State.

The County Court hears over 12,000 cases each year, including criminal, common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder and related offences.

This role involves working within a team responsible for end-to-end management of proceedings in the Commercial Division. You will provide analysis of issues and prepare case management advice for judges and judicial registrars.

As a Commercial Dispute Resolution Specialist, you will work closely with parties and legal practitioners to resolve issues and address barriers to cases progressing. Your goal will be to facilitate fast, cost-effective and fair resolution of commercial disputes.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with legal practitioners, court users and the general public to handle complex enquiries under limited supervision.
  • Preparing draft orders for approval by the Judiciary, taking into consideration the needs of parties and relevant rules and procedures.
  • Contributing to the development of processes and practices to improve service delivery in the Commercial Registry.

In this role, you will gain an in-depth understanding of court processes while working in a close-knit team that supports one another. You will engage with a broad array of stakeholders, including judges, legal practitioners and self-represented litigants.
