About the Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in Canberra.

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of housekeeping, catering and environmental services, ensuring a safe and quality-oriented service for patients, staff, service providers and visitors.

The role involves hands-on duties as a team leader, organizing staff rosters and managing leave, efficiently allocating resources, ensuring cleaning tasks are completed according to hospital policies and procedures, assisting with laundry/linen and waste services, providing support and training to staff, and maintaining equipment and cleaning standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of housekeeping, catering and environmental services
  • Ensure a safe and quality-oriented service for patients, staff, service providers and visitors
  • Organize staff rosters and manage leave
  • Efficiently allocate resources
  • Assist with laundry/linen and waste services
  • Provide support and training to staff
  • Maintain equipment and cleaning standards
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in hospital cleaning and previous experience as a Team Leader overseeing Housekeeping/Cleaning/Catering/Environmental Services
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and train staff, promote teamwork, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to meet the physical aspects of the position, including lifting, pushing trolleys, mopping, etc.
  • A self-motivated and 'hands-on' approach to function effectively in a busy environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to high customer service and quality improvement
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster and cover staff leave as required
