Our organization is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Livestock Production Specialist to manage our extensive sheep and cattle enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional livestock management skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong understanding of pasture and weed management.The role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and progressive livestock operation, with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of animal husbandry, including mustering, shearing, crutching, and managing pastures.To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate a high level of integrity, honesty, and attention to detail. You will also be required to possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to lead by example.The following are some of the key responsibilities associated with this role:
  • Mustering all livestock and ensuring that Mobble is always up to date with stock moves and animal husbandry events
  • Organizing and performing a program of all animal husbandry activities, including but not limited to lamb and calf marking, pregnancy testing, shearing, and joining rams and bulls
  • Running the shed at shearing and crutching
  • Having adequate sheep numbers yarded for the day, making sure shearing equipment is in good working condition and supplies are sourced, organizing the loading and trucking of all wool bales
  • Maintaining all fences and gates, constructing new plantation and subdivision fences
  • Pasture management
  • Controlling any weeds that need spraying, assuring livestock conditions and pasture levels across all properties are monitored, and fed out grain and hay to livestock when needed
  • Monitoring stock watering systems and general maintenance of all farm vehicles and ATVs
