Job Description

Aurizon is seeking a Commercial Portfolio Manager to join their team in Adelaide. As a key member of the Bulk Customer and Growth team, you will be responsible for managing customer accounts and delivering strong commercial outcomes.

This role involves partnering with major mining customers and internal/external operational teams to achieve business goals. You will develop and leverage your customer relationships to optimize current revenue contracts and drive business growth through identifying and securing new opportunities.

The successful candidate will have a strong commercial background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. They will also have a solid understanding of financial analysis and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships across your portfolio of customers and all functions in Aurizon.
  • Assist as the main contact point for BHP to assist with mobilization of the contract, including contractual reporting and project management of key infrastructure enablers.
  • Be the lead expert for all customer intelligence within the portfolio, including identifying and facilitating potential future business growth opportunities or decline risks.
  • Lead and manage the design and development of customer proposals, tender responses, and business cases within your portfolio.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and contracting processes with customers, with a focus on renewing current contracts before expiry.
  • Develop and maintain active key account management planning for each customer in the portfolio.
  • Deliver the performance requirements of each contract within the customer portfolio through the rigorous contract performance process.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong commercial experience.
  • University qualified in Economics, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • High-level management and leadership skills with the capacity to develop, implement, and achieve goals and targets.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and written communication skills.
  • High-level skills in the identification, specification, and delivery of customer service in a large commercial organization.
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis and business strategy, with a bias towards making data-based decisions.
  • Substantial skills in working effectively and collaboratively as a key contributor to a team.
