Job Description:
The role of Community Development Worker is to deliver programs that strengthen families and promote the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children, young people, and their families. This position directly contributes to the development and delivery of programs and activities that address service accessibility barriers of individual children, families, and communities.
This role requires a high level of interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain the balance of multiple tasks while providing a high-quality service. The successful candidate will be proactive, punctual, and possess accurate typing ability, familiarity with Microsoft software, and experience in using DEX and Community Data Solution databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall day-to-day administration and management of the project.
- Responsible for the ongoing evaluation of the project in conjunction with community staff and stakeholders.
- Promote the service to local communities through various channels.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the program and work plan.
- Consult with target group members and service providers to identify needs.
- Develop effective means of disseminating information to the target group.
- Encourage participation from target group members in cross-cultural and intergenerational activities.
- Provide an outreach service to groups in outlying areas.
- Evaluate services provided and ensure they meet individual needs.
- Provide information, education, social, and recreational activities for the target group.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to pool resources.
- Identify skills and resources among the target group population.
- Research, produce, and distribute publications as per funding requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Certificate 4 or Diploma in Community Services or other relevant qualification/experience desirable. At least 2 years of experience in providing services and groups in the community sector.
