Community Development Professional

The Community Development Worker plays a vital role in promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. The position is responsible for developing and delivering programs that strengthen families through early intervention strategies and set the foundation for life-long health and learning outcomes.

The role involves maintaining the balance of multiple tasks while providing a high-quality service. It requires a high level of interpersonal and organizational skills, proactivity, punctuality, accurate typing ability, familiarity with Microsoft software and experience with DEX and Community Data Solution databases.

  • Develops and delivers programs, activities and networks targeting families, young children and their carers, including those from Culturally and Linguistically Different Background (CALD) communities.
  • Contributes to the development and delivery of programs and activities that address service accessibility barriers of individual children, families and the community.
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to pool resources for the provision of activities and services for the target group.
  • Identifies skills and resources among the target group population and encourages the development of self-help initiatives and participation in wider evidence-based community activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains day-to-day administration tasks, including data collection, recording and general management of assigned projects work.
  • Evaluates project/s in conjunction with Community Connections staff and the Youth Service.
  • Promotes TEI activities to the community through appropriate networks.
  • Performs administration tasks related to the program and assigned work plan under the TEI program strategy.
  • Consults with members of the target group and service providers to identify priority needs of the community and deliver responsive support services.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Diploma level in Community Services or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in community development or a related field.
