About the Opportunity

Flourish Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an NDIS Mental Health Officer. This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with mental health services in the Western Sydney Local Health District to improve access to and experience of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for people with psychosocial disability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with local health district mental health services to identify individuals who are or are likely to be eligible for the NDIS and assist them in obtaining the necessary support.
  • Collaborate with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, and other NDIS providers to ensure individuals are connected to the NDIS and the supports they require.
  • Build the capacity of local health district mental health service staff around the NDIS, including through mentoring and training.
  • Work across multiple sites and environments to achieve the best possible outcomes for individuals with psychosocial disability.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in human services or a relevant field, and/or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with individuals with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilize the NDIS.
  • Excellent understanding of NDIS eligibility criteria as it applies to psychosocial disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of staff, including through mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully liaise with service providers to assist individuals with psychosocial disability in obtaining the necessary supports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work independently, prioritise, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  • Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence (P2 licence acceptable).
  • Vaccination Category A.
