About the Opportunity

Flourish Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an NDIS Mental Health Officer in Western Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in improving access to and experience of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for individuals with psychosocial disability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with mental health services in Western Sydney to identify individuals who are eligible for the NDIS and support them in accessing the necessary support.
  • Collaborate with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, and other NDIS providers to ensure individuals receive the support they need.
  • Build the capacity of mental health service staff to work effectively with the NDIS.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including service providers and individuals with psychosocial disability.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in human services or a relevant field, or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilize the NDIS.
  • Excellent understanding of the NDIS and eligibility criteria as it applies to psychosocial disability.
  • Ability to build the capacity of staff, including through mentoring.
  • Ability to successfully liaise with service providers to assist individuals with psychosocial disability in obtaining the necessary support.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  • Current unrestricted Australian driver's license (P2 license acceptable).
  • Vaccination Category A.
