About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Counselling Support Specialist to join our team at Catholic Schools Broken Bay. As a key member of our Wellbeing team, you will play a critical role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Clinical Support: Offer expert-level clinical advice and guidance to our school counsellors, ensuring they have the necessary support to provide high-quality mental health services to our students.
  • Coordinate Mental Health Screeners: Oversee the administration of psychometric mental health screeners and assessments, ensuring that our students receive accurate and timely support.
  • Monitor Quality of Services: Regularly review and evaluate the quality of our school counselling services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance our wellbeing framework.
  • Coordinate Clinical Supervision: Provide direct supervision to our school counsellors, ensuring they have the necessary support to meet the needs of our students.
  • Develop and Implement Policies: Collaborate with our team to develop and implement policies and procedures related to student wellbeing, including behaviour support, mental health concerns, and crisis management.
  • Provide Expert Advice: Offer expert advice and recommendations to our school leaders and counsellors on mental health issues and their impact on learning and student wellbeing.
  • Ensure Confidentiality and Privacy: Ensure that all files and records of our school counselling service are managed in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
About You
  • Commitment to Catholic Values: You are supportive of, or can demonstrate an understanding and commitment to, the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context.
  • Expertise in Mental Health: You have extensive experience offering expert-level clinical advice and responding to student mental health concerns with expert knowledge of diagnostic mental health disorders.
  • Experience in School Settings: You have experience working in a school or system of schools environment, or facilitating therapeutic groups or proactive and preventative programs.
  • Qualifications and Registration: You hold postgraduate qualifications in Psychology or Social Work, are a registered member of an appropriate professional association, and have a valid Working with Children Check.
