Role Overview
">The Curator is a skilled and innovative professional responsible for creating engaging exhibitions that bring history to life. This role offers the opportunity to shape cultural narratives and develop compelling stories through artefacts and interactive experiences.
">This position reports directly to the Manager, Museum and Historical Services, working closely with stakeholders to ensure exhibitions and programs reflect diverse perspectives and are accessible to all. The curator will undertake research in a confidential and sensitive manner, drawing on both public and internal sources within Victoria Police.

">Key Responsibilities:
">- Manage displays in an Accredited Museum.
- Develop and implement visitor engagement strategies that promote inclusivity and accessibility.
- Assist with collections care, including cleaning, rotations, and loans.
- Provide expert advice to stakeholders on historical fact-checking, contextualisation, and tone.
- Collaborate with colleagues to manage museum risk practices and daily duties.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
">- Appropriate qualifications and experience in cultural heritage, museum studies, or related fields.
- Strong expertise in curatorship, including exhibitions and visitor engagement.
- Detailed understanding of accessibility and inclusive practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, suppliers, and other cultural institutions.
- Expertise in small, medium, and large object handling for storage, installation, and deinstallation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing risk with respect to object, staff, volunteer, and visitor safety.
- Highly developed research, analytical, and communication skills for report writing and public audiences.
