Project Support Officer

We are seeking an experienced Project Support Officer to join our team and assist in the delivery of complex projects. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to support project leadership and provide administrative and coordination support.

This is a great opportunity for a self-starter who is organised, proactive, and flexible. You will gain exposure to a team of subject matter experts and provide leadership and support with a variety of tasks. No two days are the same, and this is a busy role with a lot of opportunity to lead and develop.

Some of your key tasks will include:

  • Providing administrative and coordination support to project leadership.
  • Managing aspects of project work packages and supporting the development of work proposals.
  • Supporting finance and resource management.
  • Supporting document management and reporting.
  • Coordinating various process improvement activities.
  • Establishing and growing relationships with existing and potential stakeholders.

This role would be highly suited to those with an interest in a career pathway towards Project or Business Management.

About You

You are an expert communicator with the ability to think strategically and act tactically. You are capable of building and maintaining business relationships and partnerships through collaboration and consultation.

You will lead and influence others through the provision of advice, recommendations, and proposals, and you will meet challenges with tact and diplomacy. This will be supported by your sound judgement, high-level problem-solving, and issue management skills. In addition, you will have a passion for driving performance improvements and will use your expertise and leadership skills to influence staff within the team and stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

You have strong organisation skills, the ability to establish rapport with stakeholders, and the ability to work to timelines. You are a self-starter with experience supporting geospatial capability projects and/or sustainment missions.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Three or more years of experience supporting projects as a Project Coordinator or Junior Project Manager.
  • Defence sector or Federal Government experience.
  • Experience contributing to project artefacts and documentation.
  • Strong ability with financial and budgetary processes.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Exposure to Waterfall or Agile project delivery methods.
  • Experience with MS Project and ideally Jira.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen, hold a PV level Australian security clearance, and the successful completion of an Organisational Suitability Assessment.
