Operations Manager Job Description

The Operations Manager is a key role within our organization, responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient operation of our Dandenong site. This includes ensuring the effective dispatching and tracking of freight delivery, optimal utilization of all company vehicles and forklifts, and managing communication between departments to facilitate efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure freight is delivered safely, timely, and in accordance with company requirements
  • Maximize productivity and minimize costs within operations
  • Enforce all relevant rules, standards, and procedures across the site
  • Build professional rapport with company and subcontractor workers
  • Oversee and ensure that all employees are performing their duties and responsibilities effectively, providing advice and guidance when necessary
  • Manage labor requirements for operational needs
  • Maintain a safety-focused attitude to ensure a safe and compliant workplace

Requirements:

  • Strong people management and leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an operations management or supervisory role
  • A positive attitude, possessing a high level of courtesy and professionalism
  • Ability to coordinate operations in an efficient and effective manner
  • Extensive knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Law and Chain of Responsibility requirements
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and versatility to handle changing work requirements
  • Acute listening, time management, and problem-solving skills
