AusNet Services is seeking a highly skilled Power Network Strategist to join our team in Southbank. As a key member of our Network Strategy & Planning team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of renewable energy.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced professional with a degree in electrical engineering or power systems engineering to lead the network planning activities associated with the development of D-REZs (Distribution Renewable Energy Zones). You will be responsible for assessing network capabilities, identifying emerging limitations and issues, and developing strategies to maximize the utilization of our sub-transmission network.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the network planning process to accommodate embedded generators, storage, and large loads in AusNet's sub-transmission network.
  • Undertake comprehensive network analysis to assess long-term and short-term network capabilities and identify potential limitations and issues.
  • Develop strategies to optimize network utilization and increase load and generation connections.
  • Monitor 66kV generator compliance and initiate necessary actions to address non-compliances.
  • Promote safety awareness and implement measures to minimize risks associated with work activities.
Requirements:
  • Degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or equivalent.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and robust experience in electricity network planning.
  • Strong understanding of Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A of the NER (National Electricity Rules) and its application to network design, customer, and generator performance standards.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software.
