**About this role**

This position is located in a maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house people in custody. The centre features modern amenities including medical wards and vocational training facilities.

**Family Engagement Worker Role**

The Family Engagement Worker uses a whole of family approach to undertake welfare assessments, develop support plans, co-ordinate services, facilitate programs and provide practical support to prisoners and their families.

The role participates in case management, working collaboratively with teams to ensure an integrated and co-ordinated approach to family planning.

**Key responsibilities include:**

- Re-establishing and/or strengthening relationships between people in custody and their children and other family members.

- Undertaking welfare assessments to identify family needs and developing support plans that engage families in rehabilitation.

- Co-ordinating and facilitating family-related programs and services.

**Requirements for success in this role**

- Demonstrated experience in case management, including assessing family welfare needs and developing support plans.

- Knowledge of community resources and experience in connecting people with services.

- Understanding diverse cultural backgrounds to engage with families from various communities.

- Capacity to demonstrate empathy, patience and understanding to build trust and rapport with prisoners and their families.
