About the Role

An exceptional opportunity has become available for a Compliance, Assurance & Risk Specialist to join our Risk and Assurance Team. Reporting to the Compliance, Assurance & Risk Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a disciplined governance and regulatory compliance system. You will provide specialist advice and expertise to our leaders in adopting best practices for governance and compliance management, consistent with our governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.

This permanent, full-time opportunity will be based out of the Bayswater power station in Muswellbrook, NSW.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the implementation of policies, standards, and systems along with developing tools and systems to monitor the regulatory and legislative environments to ensure early identification and minimization of business unit impacts.
  • Leading compliance monitoring assurance activities to assist key stakeholders in understanding their compliance obligations and improve their compliance against regulatory requirements.
  • Developing strong networks with key compliance, assurance, and risk personnel and supporting them through training and mentoring.
  • Targeted reporting to stakeholder groups and providing input into our corporate compliance reporting requirement.
  • Facilitating better practices and assisting in ensuring that operational and asset management strategies deal effectively with compliance, assurance, and risk obligations.
  • Support and drive initiatives aimed at managing material compliance risks and identify improvement opportunities to help the business drive towards target zero.

About You

You are an excellent communicator who is collaborative and committed to sharing and gathering information along with improving practices to achieve high-quality outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in a diverse risk, compliance, audit, and assurance role.
  • Formal qualifications in either governance, internal audit, risk management, compliance management, law, business, or a Certificate IV in Compliance and Risk Management.
  • Experience in Risk and Compliance Management frameworks, practices, and systems.
  • Sound understanding of auditing and assurance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and professional judgments in reviewing compliance and risk management frameworks and implementing improvements.
  • Excellent communications and influencing skills working with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding and ability to utilize project management principles.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the energy industry, key challenges, and industry-wide risks.
  • Experience in a heavy industry environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 31000 and ISO 37301/19600.
  • Knowledge and experience in the management and implementation of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Legislation.
