Process Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Specialist to join our team. This is a hands-on, site-based role that requires experience in power generation or heavy industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the Process Safety Management Plan, ensuring compliance with best practices and working closely with operators.

  • A Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager with strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • Someone who can confidently engage with operators and technicians and present to executives.
  • A professional with technical expertise and a desire to grow in process safety.
  • A proactive person who can run meetings, coach others, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the governance and execution of the Process Safety Management Plan.
  • Lead and coordinate Management of Change (MOC) activities and administer SAP systems.
  • Conduct incident investigations, alarm management reviews, and provide functional safety oversight.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safety-critical controls are integrated into asset plans.
  • Conduct HAZOPs and CHAZOPs for new plant and processes.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements and apply best practices.
  • Deliver in-house training on process safety, MOC, and technical compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in utilities, power generation, or large-scale process plants or heavy industry, mining, and oil and gas.
  • An understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with SAP and other technical systems is desirable.
