About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Specialist to join our Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division at the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network.

The Older Person's Emergency Referral and Assessment (OPERA) Service is a multi-disciplinary, geriatrician-led service designed to improve access to comprehensive assessment and care planning for older or frail people in the North.

As an OPERA Staff Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive medical assessments and coordinating care for older patients presenting to the emergency department.

Your expertise will be invaluable in identifying and addressing complex health issues, ensuring seamless transitions to appropriate care settings, and promoting optimal functional outcomes.

You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including geriatricians, nurses, allied health practitioners, and social workers.

Together, you will navigate the intricate challenges of caring for older adults, leveraging your clinical acumen and empathy to deliver person-centred care.

Travel will be required to service patients eligible for NALHN Geriatric Services in the community, residential aged care facilities, and hospitals.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Staff Specialist who is passionate about improving the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential in this role, as you will need to effectively engage with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

We are committed to providing quality care and a supportive work environment guided by respect, integrity, and accountability.

Our core values foster excellence, innovation, and equitable health outcomes.

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.
