Job Description

The Senior Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading a team of health and safety professionals to ensure the consistent implementation of HSW systems, strategy and standards across all groups and divisions. This role plays a pivotal part in enabling the department to have a unified approach to implementing HSW by providing oversight, guidance, and support to front-line HSW staff and managers.

This senior position requires a high level of expertise in promoting advances in safety culture and safety systems, as well as a good understanding of WHS technical / risk management. The successful candidate will be able to communicate efficiently and effectively about HSW risks, frameworks, policies, and procedures to employees of diverse skill sets, language and cultural backgrounds.

The Senior Health and Safety Manager will lead, coach and manage a team of health and safety professionals to produce quality outcomes. This includes preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence, corporate documents, reports, submissions, proposal papers and notes, as well as identifying, establishing and enhancing client/customer relationships and internal/external stakeholder relationships.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 5-7 year's experience in a comparable role, with experience leading others.
  • Experience in promoting advances in safety culture and safety systems.
  • A good understanding of WHS technical / risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with employees of diverse skill sets, language and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Ability to identify innovative solutions and support their implementation.
