Financial Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join our small, hands-on team in Melbourne. This is a broad ranging role that will provide support for local operations with a wide variety of finance functions.

About the Role:

  • Record financial transactions and prepare schedules according to AASB standards, internal policy, and corporate guidelines.
  • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting processes.
  • Support internal, external, and tax audits by providing accurate and timely information.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on internal controls and policies.
  • Analyse and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to resolve payroll and timecard inquiries.
  • Cross-train in AP, AR, and Payroll as backup support to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Engage with stakeholders to guarantee accurate financial and tax outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong skills in transaction handling, reconciliations, and month-end procedures.
  • Able to support audits and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems.
  • A strong analytical mindset and solid documentation skills.

Bonus Points:

  • CPA qualification.
  • Experience across AP, AR, and Payroll.
  • Proven experience applying Australian tax standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Australian accounting standards (AASB).
