Job Description

The Legislation Liaison Officer plays a critical role in supporting the department's legislative program. This dynamic position involves guiding the Assistant LLO in relation to their additional responsibilities for coordinating the tabling of portfolio documents in Parliament and managing the lodgement of documents for Executive Council consideration.

This is a core portfolio coordination position that requires a high level of autonomy and decision-making skills. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the legislation process, experience in legislation development, government legal advising or parliamentary processes, including the Legislation Act 2003 and the Legislation Handbook.

As a key member of the team, the Legislation Liaison Officer will provide high-level coordination, support and strategic input to the department and the wider portfolio. They will work closely with the Attorney-General's Office, senior executive officers on the AGD Legislation Committee, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Office of Parliamentary Counsel and officers across the department.
