Indigenous Engagement and Project Officer

We are seeking an Indigenous Engagement and Project Officer to promote Indigenous perspectives and facilitate pathways into allied health for Indigenous youth in the Northern Territory.
As a vital member of the Youth Engagement in Allied Health (YEAH) team, you will enhance community links with local schools, developing programs that empower young people to pursue allied health education, training and career pathways.
Your role will involve attending school expos, community events, and campus open days, collaborating with internal teams, local schools, and external partners.
The successful candidate will engage purposefully with individuals, families, and local communities, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, in a manner that is culturally respectful, equitable, and inclusive.
Key Responsibilities- Attend school expos, community events, and campus open days to promote Indigenous perspectives and facilitate pathways into allied health.
- Develop programs that empower young people to pursue allied health education, training and career pathways.
- Collaborate with internal teams, local schools, and external partners to enhance community links and promote Indigenous health.
- Engage purposefully with individuals, families, and local communities, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, in a manner that is culturally respectful, equitable, and inclusive.
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and be recognised as such by an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander body.
- Hold a diploma and subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.
- Demonstrate understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health and education.
- Demonstrate an ability to maintain networks and professional relationships across the NT, including with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
- Demonstrate capacity to deliver quality customer service.
- Demonstrate sound computer skills including experience with Microsoft suite of programmes.
