Job Description

The Australian Public Service Commission is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Operations Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing network projects, ensuring the successful delivery of network services, and providing leadership and management to our Network Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Project Coordination: Plan and coordinate network project resourcing, engage with internal and external stakeholders on project requirements, and track progress milestones and risks.
  • Network Support: Support networks such as physical network infrastructure, including local and wide area networks, gateway, load balancing, and wireless technologies.
  • Contract Management: Ensure projects are on budget while meeting desired business outcomes, manage contracts, and engage with vendors on performance.
  • Capability Lifecycle Management: Contribute to network capability life-cycle management, provide technical advice on the design, delivery, transition, and maintenance of secure network infrastructure.
  • Technical Advice: Develop and maintain a system to track complex network technologies, drive forward planning and architecture, and evaluate new technologies to determine suitability to solving business needs.
  • System Availability: Contribute to the operations of network technologies, assure system availability and uptime, and be accountable for continuous improvement and innovation to enhance the service delivery experience.
Requirements:
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance is required.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology/Project management or relevant IT/project management industry-based qualifications are desirable.
  • 5+ years' experience managing and supporting networks in an enterprise environment, including but not limited to Gateway, LAN/WAN, Security, Load-Balancing, and Wireless solutions.
  • Understanding of current Networking technologies and ability to map to future/emerging technologies/industry trends and organizational outcomes.
