Data Scientist, Innovation Pathways, FaBA Transformation

The University of Queensland invites a talented Data Scientist to join the Innovation Pathways team in a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 2 years. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with the Innovation Pathways Lead and Lead Data Scientist to deliver innovative solutions, generate business insights, and drive evidence-based decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Engineer, prototype, validate, and deploy statistical and machine learning models using R and Python programming languages.
- Develop and conduct complex statistical analysis plans for research studies, applying techniques such as regression, text mining, topic modelling, sentiment analysis, and choice modelling.
- Build comprehensive data repositories through integrating individual data sets, including primary and secondary data.
- Prepare and deploy data visualisation tools and dashboard solutions, ensuring high standards of user experience.
- Manage large-scale datasets, ensuring best-practice data governance and fulfilling ethical obligations.
- Provide statistical consulting, identify data needs, and work with stakeholders to develop customer insights, innovation, and commercialisation strategies.
We seek an exceptional candidate with a strong background in data science, preferably holding a PhD or Master's qualification in Data Science, Business, Management, or Marketing. Key requirements include:
- Experience in collecting, investigating, manipulating, and analysing complex datasets using R and Python programming languages.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, including natural language processing, predictive modelling, and multivariate analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and execute diverse projects, effectively managing tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills, including preparing reports, papers, and submissions for industry, government, and academic audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration, consultation, and negotiation across different levels and disciplines.
The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary package, estimated at $103,965.55 per annum, plus 17% Superannuation contributions. Additional benefits include:
