The Environmental Health Officer plays a pivotal role in safeguarding community health and wellbeing by enforcing environmental and public health legislation, thereby ensuring the highest standards of public health are maintained.
Key Responsibilities- Licensing and compliance monitoring to ensure businesses adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Conducting inspections of food premises, shared facility accommodation, tattoo studios, and other regulated businesses to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Investigating public health risks and taking proactive measures to mitigate potential hazards.
- Working towards environmental protection and nuisance prevention through effective enforcement and education.
- Providing emergency on-call support to address any urgent public health concerns.
- Engaging in community education and outreach initiatives to promote healthy practices and raise awareness about environmental health issues.
- Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent tertiary qualifications in an environmental health-related field that qualifies for full membership of Environmental Health Australia.
- A valid Class C driver's licence to facilitate travel between various sites within the Council Region.
- A Qld Working with Children Blue Card or eligibility to obtain.
- Proficiency in relevant legislation, including their relationship to other legislation.
- Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
