Chief Environmental Health Specialist

The Environmental Health Officer plays a pivotal role in safeguarding community health and wellbeing by enforcing environmental and public health legislation.
">Key Responsibilities- Licensing and compliance monitoring to ensure businesses adhere to regulations
- Inspections of food premises, shared facility accommodation, tattoo studios, and other regulated businesses to identify potential risks
- Public health risk investigations to determine the source and cause of outbreaks or incidents
- Environmental protection and nuisance prevention to maintain a healthy environment for residents and visitors
- Emergency on-call support to respond to urgent situations
- Community education and engagement to promote awareness about environmental health standards
- A Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent tertiary qualifications in an environmental health related field that qualifies for full membership of Environmental Health Australia
- A Class C driver's licence to travel independently between various sites within the Council Region
- A Qld Working with Children Blue Card or eligibility to obtain
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Food Act 2006, Public Health Act 2005, and Environmental Protection Act 1994
- Communication and negotiation skills to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers
