Chief Privacy Officer, Australia Pacific

QBE Insurance Group is seeking a seasoned privacy professional to lead the approach, management, and roadmap for privacy and responsible data use across the Australia-Pacific (AUSPAC) team as part of the Global Privacy Team. The successful candidate will possess deep subject matter expertise, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and be a trusted advisor to the business.
About the Role
The Chief Privacy Officer, Australia Pacific will develop the strategy, roadmap, and priorities for privacy at AUSPAC, provide expert advice to the business on privacy risk, controls, and responsible data use requirements, and oversee the effective implementation of Group privacy policies and approaches into the AUSPAC business. This role involves being the point of contact for OAIC-related matters, implementing pragmatic approaches to build QBE's privacy risk maturity, and overseeing key privacy governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive privacy strategy for AUSPAC
Provide expert guidance on privacy risk management, compliance, and best practices
Oversee the effective implementation of Group privacy policies and approaches into the AUSPAC business
Be the point of contact for OAIC-related matters and manage relationships with regulators
Implement pragmatic approaches to further build QBE's privacy risk maturity
Oversee key privacy governance requirements, including PIAs, privacy incidents, and assessments
Provide meaningful reporting and insights to stakeholders on the management of privacy
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in privacy law and regulations, excellent stakeholder management skills, and experience leading teams. You will also have a proven track record of implementing best practices and uplifting privacy maturity in complex organizations. A background in insurance and/or financial services is beneficial but not essential.
