
Precision Medicine Initiatives Coordinator

Lead a groundbreaking initiative in precision medicine, working closely with Aboriginal communities to drive culturally safe and community-informed healthcare initiatives.
The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the Aboriginal Precision Medicine project in NSW as part of the Australian Alliance for Indigenous Genomics (ALIGN). This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal people by promoting equitable access to cutting-edge healthcare technologies.
About the Opportunity- Develop strong relationships with Aboriginal Medical Services, communities, NSW Health, and governance bodies to ensure effective collaboration and mutual understanding.
- Coordinate the development of a state-wide Aboriginal Precision Medicine Program, incorporating the expertise and insights of Aboriginal leaders and health professionals.
- Lead capacity building activities, including community engagement, educational resource development, and workforce training, to enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare providers and stakeholders.
- Support governance and ethics processes to ensure that the program operates with cultural and scientific integrity, respecting the rights and dignity of Aboriginal people.
- Contribute to policy and advocacy efforts, helping to shape the future of Indigenous genomics and promote its benefits to Aboriginal communities.
This is a full-time, 3-year contract position, offering a unique chance to work at the forefront of precision medicine and Aboriginal health. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to Indigenous leadership, cultural safety, and community engagement, as well as a track record of success in managing complex projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
About You- You have experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, research, or health promotion, preferably in genomics or precision medicine.
- You have a demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and work effectively with Aboriginal communities, recognizing their unique needs and perspectives.
- You possess skills in co-design, program development, implementation, and evaluation, with a focus on promoting equity and addressing health disparities.
- You have excellent communication, leadership, and report writing skills, with the ability to articulate the value and impact of your work.
- You hold qualifications in public health, health promotion, or equivalent experience, with a deep understanding of the social determinants of health and their influence on health outcomes.
