About the Role
The Residential Services Manager will be responsible for the daily management of our residential facilities. This role involves mentoring a team of youth workers to provide meaningful support to young individuals with complex needs. The aim is to enhance the living experiences of these young people through a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach integrated into daily activities and structured programming.

The position emphasizes creating a secure and supportive environment for young residents, collaborating with culturally appropriate services, and facilitating connections to their cultural identities. Flexibility is required to cover shifts as necessary.

This is a permanent, full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster professional and trusting relationships with children and young people through active engagement.
  • Ensure the residential environment is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, and stimulating to promote resilience and growth.
  • Assist in developing and implementing case plans that guide daily service delivery.
  • Provide support and reflective supervision to a team of residential workers, promoting teamwork in the best interests of the children and young people.
  • Guide staff in applying Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques to manage and de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Oversee the scheduling of residential workers, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Coordinate the intake and transition processes for new residents and facilitate their exit to permanent placements or step-down services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information in the relevant databases.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a related field (essential).
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Experience working with children and young people who have faced trauma and adversity.
  • Proven experience in managing 24-hour residential services for vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively handle crises and complex situations.
  • Current Unrestricted Australian Driver's License.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completion of the Hope and Healing Framework Foundations prior to commencement (enrollment will be provided if successful).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
