About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Work Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at Hinchinbrook Shire Council. As a key member of our WHS team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, contractors, and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective WHS policies, procedures, and programs to minimize risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on WHS procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement safety procedures, protocols, and emergency response plans.
  • Monitor and report on WHS performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in WHS or similar qualification with 2 years' experience in an operational WHS role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of WHS legislation, principles, and procedures.
  • Practical experience in workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
