We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professional to join our team as a Building and Construction HSE Advisor. As a key member of our HSE team, you will play a critical role in implementing our health and safety strategy across our QLD & NT network.
Key Responsibilities- Drive and lead a strong safety culture, influencing safe outcomes and reducing risks through a focus on high-risk work activities and safety compliance.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and provide coaching in the moment to ensure our minimum standards are met.
- Keep up to date with HSE compliance in relevant state and national legislation, and hold relevant knowledge on safety compliance.
- Implement, maintain, and update project-specific HSE plans and SWMS for high-risk projects and tasks in line with legislation.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities on matters of HSE regulation and compliance.
- Manage HSE inductions and onboarding process for new internal staff, including HSE communications and toolbox talks.
- Provide advice on HSE matters and issues that arise, in line with our company framework and safety management system.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies, including investigations, reporting, and escalation.
- Monitor safety compliance through efficient safety systems and technology, with a focus on lead and lag indicators, leading to monthly reporting for businesses under your remit.
- Qualification in Work Health and Safety, essential (minimum Certificate IV in H&S).
- Previous experience in the Building and Construction industry.
- Competent use of technology and safety systems/technology.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Results-driven and adaptable.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple/competing priorities and make quick decisions.
- Problem-solving and process implementation skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, laws, and regulations.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally and interstate as required.
- Construction White Card.
- Working with Children Check (preferred or to undertake during employment).
