Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of Arbitration Officers to deliver high-quality, timely, and accessible arbitration services.
- Promote, lead, and support best practice in arbitration to ensure delivery of a consistent and high-quality arbitration service.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative, and supportive Arbitration team, including promoting a professional, constructive, and accountable culture.
- Contribute to the leadership team to identify and actively respond to employee, stakeholder, and service challenges.
- Qualification or significant relevant experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Law, Psychology, Occupational Health and Safety, or Social Science.
- Sound knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (ACA), the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRCA), and the workers compensation scheme in Victoria.
- Ability to lead arbitration hearings in a fair, impartial, and informal manner, consistent with procedural fairness and the independence and authority of WIC.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct arbitration hearings in complex disputes, make and deliver determinations, in accordance with Victorian workers compensation and other relevant legislation, Ministerial Guidelines, codes of conduct, WIC policies and procedures, and relevant legal authorities.
