Aboriginal Health Worker Opportunity

Culturally Safe Healthcare in Our Community

Do you have a passion for supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?

This role involves working as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide primary healthcare services, bridging cultural connections, advocating for patients, and delivering culturally safe health services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing primary healthcare services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people primarily;
  • Bridging cultural connections and advocating for patients;
  • Delivering culturally safe health services across the rural community;
  • Working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team;
  • Planning, developing, delivering and evaluating health promotion and education initiatives;
  • Communicating effectively with others, including interacting sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people.
Requirements:
  • Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage;
  • Hold a minimum of Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a relevant Certificate III health qualification;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community;
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team;
  • Understanding of chronic disease and preventable lifestyle illness and how it relates to cultural understanding of health issues;
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate and consult with others.
