Opportunity Overview

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Brisbane. As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Specialist, you will provide culturally appropriate support and guidance to participants of the Brisbane Recovery Services Centre.

You will play a key part in strengthening cultural connection and awareness across services and enhancing the experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples accessing support in QLD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop or source culturally appropriate resources and training materials for staff and clients.
  • Facilitate or support Yarning Circles and Learning Circles that align with the Cultural Capability and Competency Framework.
  • Conduct regular reviews of the site environment to ensure cultural safety.
  • Work with the clinical team to ensure individual case plans reflect cultural needs.
  • Create and implement localised strategies to communicate and embed cultural capability practices.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with Indigenous organisations to improve participant access and support pathways.
  • Stay informed on relevant state and national policies affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
