Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our compliance function, you will play a critical role in shaping our compliance strategy and ensuring that we operate in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of energy market regulations, particularly gas markets and wholesale electricity markets. They will also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for analysing complex regulatory frameworks, identifying compliance risks, and developing mitigation strategies. You will also work closely with internal teams and external partners to create and implement strong, risk-based controls.

Additional responsibilities include tracking compliance performance, investigating potential violations, managing interactions with regulators, and preparing formal submissions or responses.

You will be an integral part of our organization, working closely with colleagues to foster a culture of integrity and accountability.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in business, engineering, law, regulation or relevant discipline
  • Strong understanding of energy market regulations, in particular gas markets and wholesale electricity markets
  • Proven experience in compliance frameworks including developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Regulatory engagement experience liaising with regulatory authorities, managing audits or inquiries, and preparing formal submissions or responses
  • Compliance risk assessments conducting risk reviews, identifying gaps, and developing mitigation strategies
  • Project leadership leading or contributing to regulatory change or compliance improvement projects
  • Monitoring and reporting developing KPIs, dashboards, or reports to monitor regulatory compliance performance
