Job Overview

This role is part of the Physical Metrology team at the National Measurement Institute. The team leads in developing and maintaining Australia's peak physical measurement standards.

  • The team ensures that measurements made in Australia are internationally recognized.
  • They provide calibration and consultancy services from state-of-the-art laboratories.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pressure and Vacuum Technical Officer to collaborate with leading researchers in the field. The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver high-quality calibrations of pressure and vacuum sensors etc., under an ISO 17025 quality system.
  • Liaise with clients and manage routine calibration workflows, including problem resolution.
  • Maintain efficient laboratory operation, including equipment monitoring, calibration arrangement, and accurate record keeping.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new standards facilities as well as maintenance and efficiency improvements to existing systems.
  • Participate in ongoing research and development activities of the group as required.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • You will work independently, taking responsibility for delivering outcomes.
  • You will consult and collaborate with others, developing relationships within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • You will communicate clearly and effectively with clients and stakeholders using evidence-based explanations.
  • You will demonstrate aptitude for scheduling client calibration requests and internal administration and maintenance.
  • You will critically evaluate and validate measurement results using different techniques.
