Medical Practitioner Role

You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. You will work in a modern, well-equipped facility at Williamtown Health Centre, alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team.

As a Medical Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering medical services, including aviation-based services such as fitness to fly assessments, aviation medicals, and aircrew clinical health management to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards and defence policies
  • Conduct fitness to fly assessments and provide aviation medicals
  • Manage the clinical health of aircrew and provide medical advice to commanders
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
  • FRACGP, FACRRM, or Vocational Registration
  • Minimum 2 years' full-time (or part-time equivalent) GP experience in the last 5 years
  • Australian Citizen – for Baseline Security Clearance requirements
  • Basic military aviation medicine course or equivalent - Opportunity to be sponsored to complete this if you do not currently hold any of the below:
    • Australian Defence Force Aviation Medical Officer Course;
    • United States Air Force Primary Aerospace Medicine Course, US Navy or US Army basic courses; or
    • equivalent military AVMED course as determined by Commanding Officer AVMED
    • civilian AVMED course, with appropriate military experience as determined by Commanding Officer AVMED
