About the Role
The School of Education at The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking expressions of interest from experienced academics with a passion for teaching. We are looking for sessional academic staff members with subject matter expertise in various areas, including Health and Physical Education, Primary Teaching, Science, and Practicum Supervision. Sessional academic staff in Secondary Teacher Education across all subject areas and in postgraduate study in education are also invited to express their interest.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct tutorials/lectures to the standard of the School, preparing lesson plans and facilitating informed group discussions to enhance student engagement.
- Consult with students on readings, weekly topics, and upcoming assessments.
- Assist with assessment administration, including marking, entering results, and providing feedback to students as required.
- Attend meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
- Identify students at risk through thorough tutorial attendance recording.
About You
- Support the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
- Hold a minimum of an undergraduate qualification.
- Have prior teaching experience at the tertiary level with a sound understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles.
- Demonstrate ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Be able to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes, including online delivery.
- Demonstrate ability to develop resources/curriculum documents and criteria and standards-based assessment tasks.
- Be able to incorporate technology into teaching and learning.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to foster high levels of collegiality and empathise with students.
- Be able to assess priority of tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.
