Sessional Teaching Opportunities in Education

The School of Education at The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Academics to join our team as sessional teaching staff.
As a sessional academic, you will have the opportunity to teach and contribute to the development of passionate, profession-ready teachers who are highly valued in a range of settings.
We are looking for sessional academic staff members with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Health and Physical Education
- Primary Teaching
- Science
- Practicum Supervision
Sessional academic staff in Secondary Teacher Education across all subject areas and in postgraduate study in education are also invited to express their interest.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct tutorials/lectures to the standard of the School, which includes preparing lesson plans for tutorials/lectures and facilitating informed group discussions to enhance student engagement.
- Consultation with students in relation to readings, weekly topics, and upcoming assessments.
- Assisting with assessment administration, such as marking, entering results, and providing feedback to students as required.
- Attend meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
- Identify students at risk by thorough tutorial attendance recording.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Suitable qualifications, including at least one AQF qualification level higher than the course of study being taught.
- Prior teaching experience at the tertiary level with a sound understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to foster high levels of collegiality and empathise with students.
- Proven ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines, in a busy education environment.
The University of Notre Dame Australia offers a competitive salary package of $80,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on your qualifications and experience.
