About The Role

The Senior Project Officer Marine Pollution manages projects and develops strategic policies to ensure Victoria is prepared to respond to maritime emergencies, including marine oil pollution.

This role requires strong stakeholder management, critical thinking and communication skills to effectively work across disciplines.

The position maintains relationships with the maritime industry, ports, government agencies and relevant stakeholders.

Position Accountabilities

The successful candidate will contribute to the State's marine pollution preparedness and response, ensuring effective coordination across government, industry and the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Applying expertise to operational and incident management
  • Working with multiple agencies to deliver effective outcomes during emergency situations
  • Identifying shared interests, building constructive relationships and responding to diverse stakeholders
  • Anticipating risks, resolving complex issues and embedding practical solutions into work processes
  • Project delivery, task coordination and monitoring progress to achieve agreed outcomes

A sound understanding of emergency management and the ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on objectives is essential.

Essential Skills And Qualifications
  • Experience in effectively responding to and managing emergency incidents, including marine pollution events (desirable)
  • Tertiary qualification/s in a relevant discipline including emergency management or a related field (desirable)
  • Driver's Licence (mandatory)
