Environmental Specialist Role

As an Environmental Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's environmental responsibilities are met.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and supporting compliance with national and local environmental regulations, contractual obligations, and internal policies.

Key duties include supporting business growth through environmental due diligence reviews and permitting support.

You will drive environmentally responsible culture within the organization by integrating with engineering, construction, and operations teams.

Responsibilities also include ensuring work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees aligns with Amazon standards.

Additionally, you will develop, analyze, and forecast environmental metrics; horizon scan for risks, and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders.

Supporting environmental audits to drive continuous improvement is also a key aspect of this role.

Building collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to identify risks early and manage them appropriately is crucial.

Timely submission of environmental reports to governmental agencies is another critical responsibility.

Furthermore, you will conduct thorough environmental investigations and associated regulatory reports, including working with operations and necessary stakeholders to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering/science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field of study with 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, environmental consultant, environmental manager, program specialist, or program manager.
  • Experience in environmental compliance, environmental auditing, environmental permitting/reporting, waste management, environmental management systems and ISO 14001 standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior leaders inside and outside the company.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in implementing practical improvements.
  • Self-starter who consistently identifies improvement opportunities and applies new knowledge to enhance environmental performance.
