About the Role

The APS is seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to lead the Satellite Communications Systems Program Office (SATCOMSPO) team. As a key member of the Space Systems Branch, you will be responsible for managing the configuration management team and providing expert policy advice to support Defence capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage workflows, resources, and team plans to deliver critical and complex technical activities.
  • Motivate and mentor the technical workforce, aligning complementary skills and allocating resources to achieve results.
  • Lead an integrated team to plan and deliver technical activities in the configuration management functional area.
  • Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into technical activities.
  • Apply technical knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties, and take these into account in planning, decision-making, and priority setting.
  • Evaluate technical activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Translate and apply high-level goals and outcomes, identify issues and uncertainties, and incorporate these into advice, planning, decision-making, and implementation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, communicate effectively, and influence the work of teams.

The Satellite Communications Systems Program Office (SATCOMSPO) team works in partnership with industry to deliver satellite communication technology equipment and services to customers across Defence. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines, including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics.
