We are seeking an experienced and mature Disability Support Worker to join our team. As a support worker, you will be responsible for supporting individuals with daily living skills, assisting with social and recreational activities, implementing and monitoring practices that promote a healthier lifestyle, and empowering participants to achieve their goals.
The role involves working with participants with both low and complex needs. You will need to provide personal care, prepare meals, and work with participants who may exhibit complex behaviors. Experience and professionalism are highly recommended.
Key Responsibilities:- Personal Care: Providing assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Meals Preparation: Preparing nutritious meals and snacks for participants.
- Complex Behaviors: Working with participants who may exhibit challenging behaviors and developing strategies to support them.
- Effective Communication: Communicating effectively with healthcare staff, participants, and family members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Administration Skills: Demonstrating strong administration skills, including time management, organization, and prioritization.
- Phone Skills: Utilizing phone skills to communicate with stakeholders, including participants, family members, and healthcare staff.
- Reporting: Completing essential reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
- General Domestic Duties: Performing general domestic duties, including cleaning, laundry, and household maintenance.
- Transportation: Assisting participants with transportation to appointments, social activities, and other engagements.
- Social and Community Participation: Supporting participants to engage in social and community activities, promoting a healthier lifestyle and empowering them to achieve their goals.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Building rapport and collaborating effectively with staff/management, participants, their family, and friends to achieve a positive outcome and ensure a smooth service delivery flow throughout the participants' plan.
- Assisting with liaising with participants' families and friends to explore new goals, ambitions, promote and empower participants to achieve their goals and provide a medium of solid communication.
- Increasing participants skills with your active support and promote independence by enhancing their skills and personal development.
- Providing quality and professional support in line with participants plans, needs, and wants.
- Assisting participants with accessing their social community to engage with their friends and social groups to promote a healthier lifestyle.
- Implementing strategies and programs to develop/enhance participant skills, identify areas of increased support and opportunities for services to help achieve their goals.
You will be a valued member of our team helping to provide services to support clients' individual needs in both their home and community. Paid hours (casual) + Kilometres - Attractive hourly rates, Broken Shift Allowance, Set roster with the chance to pick up shifts along the way.
