The Reject Shop, a leading Australian discount retailer, is seeking an experienced Acquisition Specialist to join its Merchandise team. This role involves driving category growth and profitability through strategic supplier relationships.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with strong FMCG experience to manage one of our largest consumables categories. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive sales growth, improve product quality, and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute category plans to achieve sales growth and profitability targets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate optimal pricing and product offerings
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities for category growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of category plans
  • Monitor and analyze sales data to optimize category performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality and reduce costs

About the Role:

This is a hybrid role that requires a mix of office and in-store work. You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the company's success.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in retail buying or a related field
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build effective relationships with suppliers
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Results-driven and proactive
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications
