Job Title: Category Manager

Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)

Our client, a leader in the industrial chemicals industry, is seeking a talented Category Manager to oversee their Capex and MRO categories, with an annual spend of $25-30 million.

This role is crucial in driving strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, and delivering cost savings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement category plans and contract strategies for Capex and MRO aligned with company objectives.
  • Lead all strategic sourcing activities, including contract negotiations, tender evaluations, and contract handovers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, becoming a trusted business partner.
  • Analyze market trends to identify opportunities and incorporate insights into category planning.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance against savings and KPI targets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and mitigate risks associated with procurement.
  • Promote a culture of safety, excellence, and accountability within the team.
  • Participate in safety talks and ensure all safety objectives and regulatory requirements are met.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in business, commerce, law, engineering, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience in Procurement role managing Capex and/or MRO categories.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contract terms, including construction works contracts.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and knowledge of procurement disciplines and contract execution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
Desirable:
  • Experience in industries such as engineering, construction, oil & gas, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with sustainable procurement practices.
