About the Role

The Koorie Liaison Team Leader is a key position within Chisholm Institute of TAFE, responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing Koorie Liaison unit services and programs. This includes student support models, curriculum input, Institute guidance, and community liaison and engagement.

The successful candidate will lead the development, delivery, and review of the Koorie Student Support Program, aiming to provide holistic, wrap-around support to Koorie students from pre-enrolment through to graduation.

This role will lead a team of Koorie Student Support Officers to provide engagement and retention strategies, supporting Koorie learners to achieve their study goals, engage in student life, and balance their personal wellbeing needs.

The position will also provide advice and guidance to the Institute to strengthen its capacity to provide culturally inclusive resources and programs that respect the value of Koorie culture.

The Koorie Liaison Team Leader will represent Chisholm in external and internal forums, building and maintaining partnerships with major Aboriginal organisations, networks, and groups.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with well-developed skills, experience, and qualifications in working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in a support or education environment.

The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture and established connections with local communities and Aboriginal-owned businesses and organisations.

They will also have experience designing and implementing wellbeing programs/initiatives, leading teams and/or stakeholders in the delivery of wellbeing programs/initiatives, and leveraging a range of multidisciplinary supports to deliver student engagement and retention.

The successful candidate will have the capacity to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams in a large organisation and have a demonstrated understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people of all ages.
