Residential Youth Worker Opportunity

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team providing holistic and trauma-informed support to young people accessing residential services. As a Residential Youth Worker, you will be responsible for developing relationships with young people, supporting them to progress towards achieving their goals, and collaborating with the team in the care and management of young people who exhibit challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with young people adhering to boundaries of care practice
  • Support clients to progress towards achieving their goals
  • Assist with meal preparation and portioning
  • Monitor clients' personal care and hygiene and provide guidance to improve life skills
  • Collaborate with the team in the care and management of young people who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Facilitate educational groups and recreational activities
  • Support young people to self-administer medications
  • Informal counselling
  • Transport young people to and from appointments
Requirements for Success

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in the child, youth & family, and AOD sectors, with a degree in Psychology or Social Welfare or a minimum of certificate 4 in youth work or community services with at least three years' experience in a similar role. You will also need to be available for 12-hour shifts covering a 7-day roster (combination of night and day shifts) covering weekends and public holidays.
