Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Youth Worker to join our team at Wanada. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing holistic support to young people accessing our residential services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, adhering to boundaries of care practice.
  • Support clients in progressing towards achieving their goals, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Assist with meal preparation and portion control, ensuring a healthy and balanced diet.
  • Monitor clients' personal care and hygiene, providing guidance and support to improve life skills.
  • Collaborate with the team in the care and management of young people who exhibit challenging behavior.
  • Facilitate educational groups and recreational activities, promoting socialization and skill-building.
  • Support clients in self-administering medications, ensuring adherence to treatment plans.
  • Provide informal counseling and guidance, addressing emotional and psychological needs.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments, ensuring safe and timely transportation.
Requirements for Success
  • A degree in Psychology or Social Welfare, or a minimum of a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Services, with at least three years' experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience providing support and crisis intervention, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong knowledge of behavior management and the ability to set boundaries and limits in a residential setting.
  • Availability for 12-hour shifts, covering a 7-day roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, promoting positive outcomes and a supportive environment.
  • Demonstrated professional approach to maintaining professional boundaries, with a commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
  • A full driver's license with no restrictions, with the ability to transport clients safely and efficiently.
